although it's only it the morning
it sucks like hell.
first, i'm stuck at home.
and have to cancel whatever plans i have today.
because of that stupid whatever HDB officier that just HAD to come today.
so lame luh.
i had to wake up super early. *rolls eye*
anyway. sabina wants to tell a story today.
about her crimson butterfly and a fish.
i held my grip tightly, holding on for dear life.
'i can't let go. i can't let go.' i thought to myself.
i bite my lip nervously, as i pray i don't mess up and let go of the line.
the hook is caught on the fish, i reel in the line to be more safe.
'i can't take any chances.'
i look at the other people fishing.
they all have a hook, on the same fish.
i thought to myself before. like many times
'why do they all have a hook, on the same fish?'
i close my eyes, my grip on the fishing line, still as tight as ever.
i lie back on the grass, and open my eyes. hoping that the other people,
that has a hook on the same fish, would just give up and go away.
i have serious fierce competition for that particular fish.
sometimes, i'm not even sure why i don't give.
and just try my luck with another fish.
i mean, i had felt like i was at the losing end many a times.
but why? why can't i just let go?
suddenly, the reel is spinning like mad. i break from my thoughts and sit upright again.
one of the other fishermen had just tried to reel in the whole fish!
i panicked and try to get whole of myself.
i struggled to reel in the fish.
'i can't loose this fish. i can't.'
alas, with all my strength, i reeled in the fish closer to me!
the other fishermen saw what i was doing and did the same.
there was a many as 10 hooks on that fish.
or maybe, even more.
i don't really see how i stand a chance on getting that fish.
then again, if i feel that way, why am i trying so hard?
the other fishermen and me are tired, we all still held on to our fishing lines
but sat down and just let the fish swim on it's own this time.
i'm physically, mentally, and emotionally very tired from tyring to get this fish
i haven't got enough rest just because of it.
''is it really worth it?'' crimson butterfly whispers silently into my ear.
i close my eyes and tears roll down.
'i don't know.' i reply the little crimson butterfly.
'sometimes i think i try to hard and get nothing out of it;'
the fish still isn't in my posession.' i continue.
''then what do you plan to do now?'' crimson butterlfy replies.
i think really really hard but no answer comes to my mind.
it remains blank.
crimson butterfly continues,'' if you know you're gonna get nothing out of it;''
''yet you put so much effort in. and if you continue on this way, you're only gonna hurt yourself.''
'but...' i'm completely lost for words as i try to find a better excuse for holding on to that fish.
i think really hard again. but somehow, my mind can't think of a better excuse.
i look at the fish i was holding on to, trying desperately to catch.
why am i holding onto you?
it's a great catch. i love it alot. i know, if it's in my posession, i will be happy.
i know, i just know. but why can't i think of an excuse of why i will be happy?
i look at my hands.
they're tired and full of cuts and blisters from trying so hard to reel it in.
again, i feel a tug on the fishing line.
i stand up to struggle to reel it in.
tears roll down profusely as i scream,' don't go. you can't go.'
''you have to let go! living things, the tighter you hold on to them, the more they won't want to come back to you.''

i stare at the crimson butterfly as her words echoed like a bell in my head.
i can't think straight. ''you have to let go.... they won't want to come back...''
my hands are holding on still. do i let go?
people, think of the fish as something you really wanted for a long time.
that you've been trying so hard all these days/months/years just trying to get it.
do you let go? are you really at a losing end if you hold on?
